Ours is a fast-paced world. Many complications, constraints, and diversities contribute to problems that each one of us face in our day-to-day lives. There are many economic issues present in this world today, in fact they are so numerous and the root is poverty.
Poverty branches out to a lot of other problems such as illiteracy, pollution, hunger, malnutrition, diseases, crimes and even relationship problems. Majority of the world's people and nations are poor. And half the world's population- over 3 billion people- thrive on $2.50 a day. According to UNICEF, poverty is the major reason of death. It is a silent killer.
Of course, the government addresses this concern and takes steps in order for this to be solved. Even to the extent of joining treaties or alliances, it is just like "making friends" with other countries. In this situation, both parties benefit from each other. But then, is it just the politicians who benefit or is the poor given what is due to them?
There is what we call Foreign Aid Development Assistance wherein richer countries give assistance to other nations, especially third-world countries such as ours, the Philippines. Aid comes in different forms, such as military assistance, health or medical care, food programs, humanitarian emergency assistance whenever there are major calamities or accidents, and others.
I believe that first-world countries have given our government a significant amount of money. But instead of vast improvements, I see very little. I stand for our marginalized brothers and sisters who should be getting what is for them, they should be the beneficiary and not those who are in authority who has the power to control the aid given to us. We all know that these assistance, especially in the form of finances are put to waste and put in the pockets of officials. We have a corrupt government. Aside from the fact that the donor asks for conditions, their assistance is embezzled that is why there is no progress. Donor's have their improvement targets and most of them don't attain the said point.
Even if assistance is given to us, it is not available or attainable at all times. So we still have to strive in order for us to thrive. :)
BRILLIANT!
